31st March 2008 - MySource Classic Project Closed When Squiz's next generation Content Management System, MySource Matrix, was released mid 2004, Squiz continued to support MySource Classic. During this time, the majority of our clients have upgraded to MySource Matrix. MySource Classic is compatible with PHP4, and PHP have announced that they will stop supporting PHP 4 in August 2008. The changes required to make a product compatible with PHP5.1 are extensive. There will therefore be no more development of MySource Classic, and if you are looking for an enterprise class content management system, we suggest you consider our next generation open source content management system, MySource Matrix. For current users of MySource Classic, we will continue to provide read access to our forums and user manuals, but there will be no further releases of the software. | |

- PHP Requirement changed from 4.0.6 to 4.1.2
- Bug fix in Site Designs, that was causing the content of the page not to appear on the first view after parsing a design.
- Altered the permanent page design area so that you can have more that one permanent page area in a design, you now need to specify a unique name for each area. eg <MySource_AREA name="permanent_page" page_area_name="Top Left Banners" />

- Bug fix to actually enforce the maximum number of pages, if set, for sites
- Bug fix for the upgrade script from 2.0.2 to 2.2.0

14 March 2002 - MySource 2.2.0 Released! This is the first production release of MySource. This upgrade includes a number of feature enhancements along with increased performance and stability:
- New 'Nested Content' body copy cell type pulls content from a different page into a table cell.
- Table cells in the body copy can now span multiple columns.
- Individual pages may now have their own customised designs, or even completely different designs.
- Ability to expand and collapse entire page hierarchies in the backend interface.
- Added button to reorder pages alphabetically and reverse alphabetically.
- Added an automatic privacy page when creating a site.
- Reorderable sections and questions on custom forms. Custom forms can now be paginated - splitting sections over different screens. This is a great bonus if you need to create very long forms.
- More functionality in menus in your site designs.
- Added a new tab that lets the user create a new file when they are viewing file properties. This handy if you are uploading a whole lot of files to a page at the same time.

18 December 2001 - MySource 2.0.2 Released! A major upgrade of your favourite content-management system is now available - MySource 2.0.2 BETA. Significant new features and improvements are available in this release, including:
- Greatly increased efficiency through the restructuring of data files. Only files which require a security check before being sent are piped through PHP. The rest a sent directly through Apache with no MySource interference. Public sites will now run up to ten times faster, depending on your site design, as will certain parts of the backend.
- Timed release of pages. It is now possible to schedule changes in a page's status into the future. This means you can specify that a page must go live on a certain date at a certain time, or be disabled, archived etc. New page status 'Up For Review' added.
- Bonus template included in MySource standard release: Pull Content. This template allows the content of one page to be automatically displayed as the content of another page, without the need for duplication or maintaining both pages. This Xtra was contributed by University Communications Services, The University of Western Australia.
- Customizble extra data can now be stored on users, defined on a per-organisation basis. This allows you to store more relevant information about your users.
- Ability to store answers to Custom Form template forms in the database, to be exported later in CSV or XML format.
- ...and much more! For more information, see http://mysource.squiz.net/download/changelog.

30 October 2001 - MySource 0.9.5 Released! We're pleased to announce the release of MySource 0.9.5 BETA. It's been a while since our last release and you'll find a bunch of new feaures available. For example:
- A large overhaul of the backend interface. The four main menu sections ("MySource","Users","Web", and "Config") are permenantly visible at the top, and the tabs are now more relevant to the current context. You'll also find a quick-jump menu that can take you with a click to any of the special MySource Xtras you have installed.
- A dynamic pop-up menu tree in the Web section makes it easier to jump from one page to another while maintaining your site.
- Hitting Alt-S on most backend screens is now equivilant to scrolling down and hitting the Commit button. This makes saving your changes much faster.
- Enhanced internationalisation support. You can now define the language and/or character set to be used at the system-, site-, or page-level. This makes it easier to publish in non-English and even non-Western European languages (we have successfully published MySource web sites in Japanese). Note: You will still need to translate your content.
- For those interested in building their own frontend designs, much more powerful menuing options are now available. There are now four types: normal (simply a list of pages), stalks (tree structure with little indenting lines), tabs (the well-known Amazon.com-style) and constant buttons (for permenant design elements). Included with this release is a sample design that utilizes DHTML-based pop-up tree menus.
- ...and much more! For more information, see http://mysource.squiz.net/download/changelog

24 September 2001 - MySource Community Forums Now Online! Many of you have been asking if there is a support forum available for MySource users to discuss MySource and to seek help from developers and other users. The answer has always been "we're working it." Well now at long last the answer is "we're still working on it, but they're online and ready to go!"
That's right, the MySource community forums are now available for your enjoyment at the MySource site. Naturally, as with any new forum, they're most empty at the time of writing. But that will change.
We've split the forums into a number of categories covering the variety of issues MySource users might want to discuss, but if you have any suggestions for new or alternative forum topics, feel free to make a suggestion!
Of course these message boards are new and we welcome any feedback on their interface and functionality. Enjoy! |
